Polish narrow-minded village perspective - how I lost some of my friends

One may assume that after finishing college a person shall have broadened horizons and a global perspective. As it turns out, not always.

In the era of constant negative refugee information it may be difficult to remain unbiased. Media are subjective and as we all know -  bad news is good news. Bad sells quicker and more effectively. I was assuming that my University colleagues know it and are still able to filter information in order to grasp the gist laying behind all the drama. Just imagine how big my astonishment was, when I decided to study my Master in Germany and the reactions were as follows: "Nooo, the will rape you there", "Be careful, they like Blondes", "Maybe go straight to muslim countries" (!). What is more, some of my colleagues attended demonstrations in Katowice (city in Poland where I was studying) in order to support the slogan "Poland for Poles"!
Isn't in well known, that half of Polish population is abroad? When saying "Poland for Poles" we should bring back all the emigrants! You don't have to study to get some numbers, it is enough to open Wikipedia and read:
"There are roughly 20 million people of Polish ancestry living outside Poland, making the Polish diaspora one of the largest in the world, as well as one of the most widely dispersed."

Poland is known to be conservative and homogenous. We have very little  immigrants, the dominating religion is catholicism, government is right winged etc. But still, it was not what I expected from young, educated people, whom I was perceiving as global citizens... Now just as village citizens (no offence for rural inhabitants, I mean the general mindset).

If u want to more, feel free to read an article form "Independent":
